Stakkene (The Stacks): Solvang Library Annex Space for Urbanplanen Young Adults

January 24, 2023

For my first semester in MA Spatial Design at the Royal Danish Academy, we explored how “we use the context to create meaningful interventions, how we curate narratives about context through spatial design and how we allow the context to be a changing and active agent in our designs.” During the series of 3 phases, it was my first experience with architectural drawings and models at different scales, however I picked up not only technical but presentation skills as well. With the semester led by Assistant Professor Christine Bjerke and with the guidance of my tutor Associate Professor Lise Juel, I developed my project entitled Stakkene (or the Stacks) which I proposed as an annex location to the Solvang Library.

What started as an exercise in figuring out how to use my two most underused colors - purple and pinks, has triggered thoughts about gendered aesthetics. Reuse and reducing waste is a main principle in my artistic practice and has been a useful tool in finding new approaches to my work.

Uniformity & Aesthetics in the Copenhagen Metro Stations: Investigating the Changing Role of Art in the Production of Transit Spaces
December 5, 2023

As part of my third Master’s semester studies in Spatial Design at the Royal Danish Academy, we were assigned a written theoretical assignment that studies a particular topic or phenomenon that relates to our semester projects and overall positioning. I quite enjoyed the overall research process and learned a lot about formulating a critical - and not just analytical - perspective. The following post is my written submission that explores my interest in standardization and aesthetics in public transit spaces.

Cross Court: O / Create 2023 Proposal

O Days is a music festival that takes place in Refshaleøen, Copenhagen. For the event, they held an open call competition seeking creatives to design an 1:1 piece which is developed and constructed on the festival-site. Questioning how do we reshape the materials, rethink its purpose, and reuse that definitive space after the festival? This is my spatial installation proposal that I submitted.

On Display creates an interactive experience that utilizes visitors as a material to build out a space where “the walls have eyes.” The concept explores how we consume media into our home and how much we share of ourselves through our phone. We are put on display but also we are constantly on our personal digital displays: phones, computers, TVs ect.

Cooulture: Ideas At Hand
May 13, 2020

Cooulture is a series of hand-sewn textile sculptures made from my own upcycled textiles. A play on the term haute couture, the title is inspired by the French designers’ attention to specific materials and impeccable craftsmanship. However, rather than designing for exclusive clients, I envision a more inclusive artform that could relate to everyone.
